The throttle body is the part of the car's air intake system that controls the amount of air flowing into the engine when the accelerator pedal is pressed. Without a fully functioning Nissan throttle body, air will not get drawn into the engine, which is necessary to create a proper fuel mixture to ignite combustion. Symptoms of a faulty throttle body include poor shifting of transmission and unsteady engine running.

Firstly, check the vehicle for any pre-existing trouble codes and make the appropriate repairs. Inspect the PCB system. Inspect the engine for any damaged hoses that could cause a vacuum leak. Special attention should be given to the PCV system, oil dipstick, and filler cap seals for damage.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds to reset the onboard computer. Do not perform the relearn if the service engine soon light is on and codes related to the mass airflow sensor, manifold absolute pressure, or incorrect idle speed are found. If everything is in order, we can begin. Third, turn off all accessories such as the air conditioning, rear window defogger, radio, and heater blower to prevent a load on the engine which would cause erroneous positioning of the throttle plate.
Finally, make sure the front wheels of the vehicle are in the neutral position pointing straight ahead. We are now ready to perform the required relearn procedure. Make sure the accelerator pedal is fully released. Turn the ignition switch on without starting the engine for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch off for at least 10 seconds. Again, turn the ignition on for at least 2 seconds. Turn the ignition off for at least 10 seconds. This action will inform the computer on the new release position of the accelerator pedal and the closed position.
Now that this is done, we can move on to the next step. Please make sure to follow these next instructions precisely as every action is performed within a few seconds.
Turn the ignition switch on and wait 3 seconds. Immediately after the 3 seconds, the accelerator pedal must be pressed and released 5 times within 5 seconds.
Wait 7 seconds and fully press the accelerator pedal and hold for approximately 20 seconds until the check engine light stops blinking and stays on.Networktut tshoot
Within 3 seconds after the check engine light stays constantly on, release the accelerator pedal. Now start the engine and let it idle. After 20 seconds, rev up the engine a couple of times to ensure idle speed is within specifications. If the relearn was unsuccessful, turn the key to the off position wait 60 seconds and restart the process.
Thank you for watching.Beginning inthe R51 series was marketed internationally as the Pathfinder. The first generation Pathfinder was introduced as a two-door body-on-frame SUV, sharing styling and most components with the Nissan Hardbody Truck.
Before the Pathfinder there was the Nissan Bushmaster an aftermarket conversion of the Datsun Truckbut they are rare as well. Its optional 4WD system that could be engaged electronically while the vehicle was moving, unique at the time, and a four-speed automatic transmission.
In certain countries this generation also came with a 2. In Japan, it was exclusive to Nissan Bluebird Shop locations, where it was called the Terrano as a smaller companion to the larger Nissan Safari. As the Japanese market Terrano was regarded as a luxury vehicle, with an emphasis on outdoor leisure activities, the Terrano was introduced to Japanese buyers as an off-road, back country Fairlady ZX.
Ownership costs to Japanese drivers are expensive due to the exterior dimensions exceeding dimension regulations and the engine displacement incurring a higher annual road tax obligation. To emphasize this marketing approach, the Terrano was available with options not normally found on other budget-minded vehicles.
Some of the upmarket Japanese-model options were climate-controlled air conditioning, electrically powered windows, seats, door locks, and, inRecaro seats. The emphasis on luxury was partly due to a strong economy in Japan, in what is now regarded as the Japanese " bubble economy ".
Inthe first generation Terrano was entered in the 9th Paris to Dakar rally race, with continued entries in rally races for many years, winning multiple times in its category. The four-door Pathfinder was introduced in October to enhance the Pathfinder's market appeal, but the overall vehicle length and wheelbase were not extended to accommodate the rear doors. At its introduction to North America, to Pathfinders came with a two-door body.
In early it became only a four door. Some US Pathfinders came with the two door body, but they are rare. When the four door version was introduced, Nissan chose to conceal the door handles as a part of the "C" pillar trim to visually make it appear like a two-door truck with a camper shell, with the conventional door handles on the front doors.
The front doors were slightly shortened to accommodate the rear doors. From to Pathfinders were available with either the Nissan VG30i 3. In the V6 received an upgrade from throttle body injection to a multi point fuel injection system. Also inthe Z24i was replaced with the KA24E. The first generation continued until The Datsun 4WD arrived on U. It was a time when mini trucks were taking off in popularity.
The medium-length wheelbase, narrow body, and cargo bed would make these pickups popular for camping and back-country exploration.Work done by reciprocating air compressor with
The Datsun pickup model preceded the model. It was a popular 2WD truck in its day. It was a bolt-on kit to convert a 2WD to 4WD using a Dana transfer case and Spicer 30 open-knuckle front axle mounted to leaf springs.
Datsun chose to offer the truck with IFS right from the start, and the extended cab, termed King Cab, was something new for the small pickups. The pickups were available in shortbed, longbed, and King Cab models. Shortbeds were These would yield a truck wheelbase of While Toyota chose to introduce its 4WD mini truck with a live front axle, the Datsuns were equipped with independent front suspension IFS with torsion bars attached to the lower A-arms.
The rear axle sat under traditional leaf spring packs. The later engines used a computer-controlled carburetor combined with an oxygen sensor to further help reduce emissions.
Four- and five-speed 0. The H mm rear axle without a removable rear cover was used up until about June Trucks manufactured after this date used a slightly beefier C mm axle. All front axles used an R mm differential, and the left and right halfshafts were not the same length.
Axle gearing was typically 4. The Hardbody pickups gained significant popularity for off-road use and started to drive aftermarket improvement solutions. The gear ratio on Nissan trucks is found on the door jamb tag as the last two digits of the axle code.
The factory TXA transfer cases are considered robust. However, for those running bigger tires and wanting crawl capability, lower gearing helps.
Calmini offers low-range replacement gear sets to drop the low range from 2. There was also the VG30 3. In general, the C rear axle was used on the four-cylinder Hardbody trucks, and the spline HB mm rear axle was used on the V-6 trucks. A rear limited-slip differential was provided on the SE model 4WD trucks. The front axle was the R mm or R mm.
Axle ratios were typically 4.Hi all, new member Trav here. I have an 87 pathfinder with the z24i engine in it, has k miles on it, drives great.
My problem is it wont idle steady, revs up and down, wich is making it impossible to set the timing wich im sure is off by the way it hesitates and misfires. Im just itching to take this thing out in the Arizona desert and play. Sounds like you make have a vacuum leak somewhere. If nothing pops up, I would check for any codes set in the ECU under your passenger seat-see how to's on how to check codes.
There are a couple of different things that it may be. Already checked for vacuum leaks, none apparent. There still may be code stored even though the light is not on. I would check for codes and then continue. You say it was being restored? Was the engine gone through? Maybe there are some vacuum lines misrouted, or something plugged in, in the wrong spot. So, i unplugged the o2 sensor, the idle smoothed out. I had a 84 PU with the Z24 motor and had that problem off and on for a while.
Do the exhaust plugs have spark? I prefer WD, but same idea. Have you done this? Any vacuum leak that goes to the intake will cause the idle to. It's a most effective way to check. I don't trust visual inspections; it's too easy to miss a tiny crack. Had a thought it's been years since I worked on a Z24 so bear with me I believe you have a vacuum advance distributor I did.
Make sure the line is hooked up and not cracked. Check vacuum at the distributor end of the line. Does the truck run any different with the line on or off? Hook up the line the the distributor and apply vaccum yeah, suck it!! Does it hold a vacuum checking the diaphram? I think you get what I mean If you are not getting timing advance upon acceleration, it may stumble like you are experiencing I am having similar problems with mine erratic idling, poor acceleration, stalling on de-acceleration.
I must have done something right because my check engine came on when i took it for a test drive i knew there was something wrong with it, but the ecu didn't think so. I got a code 32 EGR System malfunction. Check all and any diaphrams you may have in the vacuum system.
A torn or frozen one could effect acceleration like you mentioned. The throttle body of your Nissan is what opens up and allows air to flow into the combustion chamber.
This area gets pretty clogged up with soot and debris from the ignition of the fuel. It can rob you of fuel mileage, cause poor performance and make the gas pedal feel like it is sticking. Cleaning the throttle body is actually an uncomplicated process for which some repair shops charge a hefty price. You can perform this task at home with the proper steps and a few tips. Locate the throttle body. Follow the air intake tube towards the engine and you will find square piece of metal connected to the engine.
This is the throttle body. Remove the air tube from the throttle body by loosening the clamp, with a screwdriver, and pulling the hose off. Disconnect the electrical harness that is connected to the throttle body by pressing the locking button and pulling it off. Loosen the four bolts around the throttle body with a ratchet and socket.
Pull the throttle body from the engine. Remove the accelerator cable by lining the cable up with the slot in the guide and pushing the cable through that slot. Spray the inside of the throttle body with the cleaner and scrub it with a toothbrush. Wipe the throttle body with a rag. Make certain to open the internal flap and clean under it. Repeat this step until it is shining.
Put the accelerator cable back into the slot on the throttle body and run it through the guide. Put the throttle body back on the engine and torque the bolts, with a torque wrench and socket, to the manufacturer specifications in the repair manual for your specific model Nissan. Put the harness back into the throttle body by pushing it in until it clicks into place.
Push the air intake hose back onto the throttle body and tighten it with a screwdriver until it is snug. Start the vehicle and allow it to warm up. Pay close attention to the idle speed of the engine.
